2015 Lexus LS: Decades of Outstanding Luxury

The Lexus LS has been prowling the streets for over two decades and is the full-size luxury sedan that this luxury auto maker has built its reputation on.  With a construction that is highly detail oriented and a serious class-leading value for the quantity of luxury features that are aboard the Lexus the LS offers owners a fantastic ride with plenty of equipment to enjoy.  With a host of trims to choose from, the LS continues to be a car that offers a model just about every shopper will enjoy and as most Lexus models do, the LS shows up with more features than the price will suggest.

Competing in a class that has the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Porsche Panamera the Lexus LS continues to amaze by being one that offers the most value in the class for the money spent.  With excellent luxury and performance along with great reliability the LS is a luxury sedan that makes a very sensible choice for anyone.  For 2015 the Les adds an improved infotainment system which includes navigation system and traffic information.  The Lexus LS also adds a smartphone app called Lexus Enform Remote which allows owners to have some vehicle controls in a remote fashion.

The driving experience of the Lexus LS is smooth, responsive and very easy to drive.  With a feeling of gliding across the road the LS shows up with a fantastic suspension that dispels any and all road imperfections along with a steering system that responds to inputs quickly and with a weight balance that keeps the car in check along any winding road.  Adding a luxury quiet cabin to the mix makes the ride in the Lexus LS sedan one that is more than just a little enjoyable, it’s a comfortable, smooth and quiet to allow owners an exceptional oasis from their daily work life.

Three engines can be found under the hood of the Lexus LS sedan offers three engine setups over two very different engines.  The first one is a 4.6-liter V8 engine that shows up with 386 horsepower and 367 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission which helps to bring in decent fuel numbers that come up at 16 city/24 hwy mpg in this rear-wheel drive base model LS 460.

The all-wheel drive model uses the same engine but loses some power in the process coming in with 360 horsepower and 347 lb.-ft. of torque.  The fuel numbers only fall off slightly for this model showing up at 16 city/23 hwy mpg making for a lot more control with only a small change in the overall performance.

The Lexus LS 600h L is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine which is assisted by tow electric motor/generators.  This makes for a combined 389 horsepower and 385 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine is attached to a very refined continuously variable automatic transmission which allows the fuel efficiency of 19 city/23 hwy mpg.  All three of these powertrains require the use of premium fuel to operate at a peek performance.

On the inside the Lexus LS offers a very attractive and exciting two-toned appearance with a control center that features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.  With a complete balance of style, luxury and functionality the interior is comfortable and offers a vast amount of space for everyone in any seat to fully enjoy.  All surfaces are covered in enjoyable and soft materials that help to give the car the refined look owners want from their luxury sedan.  The various trim levels carry a variety of trim options and those wanting even more room inside only need to opt for the L models which offer a longer wheelbase.

On the outside the Lexus LS is unmistakably attractive as a Lexus sedan.  With a long and low profile along with the signature hourglass shaped grill this Lexus drive proudly down any road to show off in style and grace.  Add the trapezoidal shaped headlights to the front and a smattering of chrome in the right places and the LS will gain plenty of looks from those viewing the car as it passes by.  This car rides on a gorgeous set of 19-inch wheels that add even more looks and performance to this dynamic luxury sedan.

As for standard equipment, the Lexus LS offers a great deal of amazing features to enjoy.  These include a 16-way power driver’s seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, keyless entry, push button starting, a ten-speaker audio system, parking sensors, a rearview camera, a navigation system with  integrated smartphone apps and data services, eight airbags, whiplash lessening front seats and adaptive front headlights.  Having all these aboard the Lexus LS gives this car a very attractive package of features to enjoy even at the base model.

The optional equipment on the Lexus LS gives any owner the chance to have some of their own personality aboard the vehicle.  This list includes an Alcantara headliner and semi-aniline leather upholstery, wood-trimmed rear seat accents, an adaptive air suspension, a Mark Levinson premium audio system, the Lexus Driver Attention Monitor, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection and pre-collision system and much more.  With a vast and varied amount of features to add to the LS along with the many different trim levels there is sure to be a configuration for the Lexus LS sedan that suits anyone’s tastes.

The pricing of the Lexus LS 460 starts out at a price of $73,500, which is actually much less than most of the competition when comparably loaded.  To add the additional space and gain the length of the L model the price comes in just below $80,000.  Adding AWD to the mix will add an additional $3,000 to the price tag on the shorter wheelbase and $4,000 to the longer one.  At the top end of the pricing range the LS 600h L shows up with a base price of $121,500.  Several other trim variations are available with their own trim variations, but this gives any shopper and idea of the range of prices for this gorgeous Lexus luxury sedan.
