2015 Audi A8: The Flagship Sedan to Put Others to Shame

Executives are used to riding in high-end luxury and enjoying plush surroundings.  The Audi A8 offers a ride and comfort that makes it the flagship of the Audi line up and an enjoyment that any high level business executive would be more than happy to ride in.  Competing at the top of the luxury class with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS the A8 offers a ton of power and features that will allow anyone to enjoy the drive or enjoy being a passenger in the amazing offering from Audi.

The A8 for 2015 offers new front and rear designs, an available head-up display with night-vision, lane departure warnings and an increase in horsepower for the 4.0-liter V8 engine.  Driving the A8 is an experience that will not be matched.  For those who are not used to plush and lavish luxury the A8 will be the height of pleasure cruising for them.  Drivers can choose between Comfort, Dynamic or Automatic modes to offers driving experience that ranges from the comforts of a living room to a powerful and performance laden ride.  The suspension and steering systems are expectedly highly-engineered and ready to take on any driving conditions while allowing occupants to fully enjoy the comfort and pleasure of this luxury cruiser.

The A8 offers five different engine options all of which are equipped with the Quattro AWD system which gives drivers even more control over the vehicle performance and road manners.  These engines are also all paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that adds to the ease of transition between gears and helps this powerful engine lineup be as efficient as possible.

The base engine is the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that shows up with 333 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine when paired with the transmission offers fuel efficiency of 19 city/29 hwy mpg and includes a fuel saving start/stop feature.  This engine is found in either the standard or long wheelbase models.

The second engine in the lineup is the 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 engine that comes in with 240 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque.  Add in the transmission and the start/stop technology and this vehicle will enjoy a fuel efficiency of 24 city/36 hwy mpg and is capable of reaching 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.  This model only comes in the long wheelbase form.

Next up is the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that shows up with 435 horsepower and 444 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine when mated to the transmission will reach a fuel efficiency of 18 city/30 hwy mpg in the standard wheelbase and 18 city/29 hwy mpg for the long wheelbase format.  This engine is also equipped with the start/stop technology to help save fuel.

Continuing down the lineup, the next engine is the 6.3-liter W12 engine found only in long wheelbase models and offering a very strong 500 horsepower and 463 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine offers a very slight fuel mileage at 14 city/22 hwy mpg when mated to the transmission and does not include the start/stop technology that is aboard all other engine models.

At the top of the lineup is the S8 with its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that shows up with 520 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque.  This car reaches 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and can put many sports cars to shame with its ability to accelerate so well.  Even with all the power under the hood, this engine when paired with the transmission and the start/stop technology comes in with a 17 city/27 hwy mpg and can be found in either the standard or long wheelbase models.

As the Audi flagship vehicle the A8 lineup is built to impress from the inside and outside.  This car feels and looks like a private jet on the inside with a ton of space to stretch out and get comfortable.  In the long wheelbase models the two rear seats offer massaging functions that make this a great car to relax in on the way to or from the business meeting.  ON the outside this car is sharp, shapely and fluid giving an amazing amount of sophistication and style to the vehicle.  With a look that shouts success and high end luxury, this car is everything that it’s expected to be from every angle.

The standard features for the A8 include all expected features of a flagship luxury vehicle.  This list includes a leather interior, 18-way power and heated front seats, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, a navigation system, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, a six-month subscription to Audi Connect which adds in-car Wi-Fi connectivity and the Quattro AWD system.  For the S8 models a sport differential and larger front brakes are added to increase the sportiness and sport performance.

The optional features for the A8 comes bundled into packages and include some great offerings.  This list includes the massaging front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, 22-way adjustable front seats, higher grade leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, night vision assistance, a rear seat DVD entertainment system with two ten-inch screens and a 19-speaker 1,400-watt Bang and Olufsen audio system .  Riding in an A8 that is fully loaded with all the bells and whistles may need to come with a warning that the occupant will not want to ever leave the vehicle.

At very expected pricing, the A8 starts out at the base model just over $78,000 for the standard wheelbase and increase by $4,000 to gain the longer wheelbase.  The diesel model comes in at the upper $80,000 range and the S8 starts over $115,000.  The W12 model is the highest priced starting over $140,000 making it the most expensive Audi on the market.  With these price points it’s really no wonder why this is the flagship of Audi and not really surprising that this car is built to carry the top level executives or those who can afford to purchase this awesome car.
